Laser eye surgery results

Laser Vision Correction results are generally excellent. They do depend to some extent on the starting prescription of the patient and the degree of short or long-sight being treated.

For low myopia (up to 3.00 dioptres) results are very good, with over 98% achieving driving vision without the need for glasses. Ninety percent will see 6/6 (twenty twenty) or better unaided. At your complimentary Refractive Surgery Consultation, Mr. Edwards will review in detail your specific outcome expectations.

Extreme short-sight correction
For higher degrees of myopia, laser vision correction may not be the best treatment choice. Often for those with more than 8.00 dioptres of myopia, intra-ocular lens implants may be more effective.

This depends on various factors, including age. The amount of myopia that can be corrected with laser vision correction is largely dependent on the thickness of the cornea. For some patients with very large starting prescriptions, a solution can be to reduce their myopia, for example, from 10.00D to 2.00D, which leaves them with dramatic benefits.

Extreme long-sight correction
Laser Vision Correction for long-sight can be used for up to +6.00 dioptres, but again intra-ocular lenses are sometimes more appropriate for higher degrees of long-sight. Please discuss this in person with Mr. Edwards.

Correction of astigmatism
Many people have some degree of astigmatism. This is completely normal. Up to 5.00 dioptres of astigmatism can be treated with the excimer Laser. This is something that will be discussed in detail at your complimentary initial consultation.

Matthew, Jo and the team explained what was going to happen and what was happening during the procedure. That is all very reassuring when you're a nervous camper like me! You even soughted out and contacted Westfield Health Care for me so I could claim from my private health care provider. How good is that for 1st class service!

I'm so glad I found out about yourselves. I found it very reassuring that Matthew doesn't just do corrective laser treatments but is also an eye specialist.  He's always been there on appointments, unlike Optimax whose consultant is only there once a week!  I am pleased with all aspects of my treatment before, after and in-between - specially the TLC and cups of tea.  

Once again from a very satisfied camper, life is so much better without glasses and it has given my confidence a much needed boost especially at this moment in time that I now have better than average vision! Thanks to " The Sheffield Vision Centre "  I only wish I'd had it done years ago!"
